Up until now, rental car companies and airlines could impose virtually any fee because the traveling public lacked the ability to make side-by-side comparisons to find the true price of their travel.
With a growing population becoming aware of TruPrice and its powerful fee engine, will revenue management and marketing departments at the major airlines and rental car companies begin to re-think their fee strategies? With multiple carriers and companies serving many large cities, will consumers begin to make travel decisions based on TruPrice’s fee data and will this lead to competitive fee pricing? It is my belief that consumers are just now becoming aware of the disparity in fees between and among travel providers. With knowledge comes purchasing power. If this knowledge translates into purchasing decisions based more on fees than on base price, then we may indeed see a sea change in fee policies.
Time will tell.
