The Hotel Could Pay for Your Airline Baggage Fees

If you are like many travelers, you do not want to pay a fee just to check your baggage.

While there are ways of avoiding paying those pesky baggage fees — including leaving your belongings at home — some hotel chains are coming up with an innovative idea to lure you into staying at their properties.

According to an article published in USA Today, InterContinental Hotels Group and Kimpton Hotels are offering to pay your baggage fees, which at first sounds like a great idea — until you must fill out an on-line form and mail receipts of the hotel stay and bag-check fees in order to be re-imbursed — and then, if you stayed at an InterContinental hotel property, you will receive the reimbursement in the form of a Visa debit card instead of by check.

We wonder if the Visa debit card — if not used promptly — will incur fees, which will erode the balance in the debit card account. If so, that would be incredibly ironic…

  1. Geez, I had ya had me going there for a minute. Sounds like another headache, you may or may not get reimbursed for that luggage after all. Why don’t these hotels step up to the plate and mean what you say, get reimbursed right there at the hotel. WHAT???, well that would be just TOO customer friendly and, after all, we don’t really LIKE our customers….
