Do Passengers Like the New Carry-On Baggage Fee Imposed by Spirit Airlines?

Now that a week has passed since Spirit Airlines started charging up to $45.00 for baggage placed in the overhead bins on-board its aircraft — baggage stored under the seat is still free of charge — the airline claims that “Our customers get it,” according to an article in USA Today.

The reactions by passengers to the new carry-on baggage fees have not only reportedly not been as pervasively negative as popular opinion might surmise, but has apparently experienced a healthy dose of positive comments.

The goal of this new fee is not so much to profit, but rather “to both lower its base fares and to speed up the boarding process,” according to Spirit Airlines.

  1. I suspect there are LOTS more people who will never fly Spirit then who “get it”.
