Charging a fee to talk with an agent at the airport? That’s the Spirit.

Coming in under the “you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me” banner is Spirit’s CEO Ben Baldanza who said “he is considering a new fee to talk with a human at the airport.”

While stating in a story by ABC that passengers won’t encounter this fee “in the very near term,” it does give one pause as to whether or not my statement that TruPrice is waiting for airlines to charge for air may have more substance than even I initially thought.

Is even the contemplation of this fee going to encourage the airlines that have stated that they won’t charge fees for carryons to reconsider their stance?

As the fringe continues to move to the outer limits, what was once fringe becomes de rigeur.

Time will tell.
