Look out, as the same frenzy regarding the practice of unbundling currently adopted by airlines may soon appear at the office of your primary care physician.
According to Toni Brayer, M.D., in order for the practices of primary care physicians to survive, they must increase revenues by charging for fees which used to be included in the cost of a visit, including but not limited to:
- Annual administration fees
- No-show fees
- Medical report fees
- E-mail consultations
- Telephone consultations
Is the unbundling trend of charging ancillary fees, which is poised to invade the practices of primary care physicians, a necessity or merely a gimmick?
